The Moldovan authorities plan to use only diplomatic methods for Russia to withdraw its troops from Transnistria. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Nicu Popescu.
“We have always insisted that the presence of Russian troops on the territory of Moldova is a factor of instability for the entire region. The only way we want to achieve this goal (the withdrawal of Russian troops from the region – ed.) is through diplomacy, negotiations and dialogue with the Russian side and Pridnestrovie,” Popescu stressed.
Recall that earlier the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has repeatedly called on the Russian authorities to withdraw military units from Transnistria, since their presence “violates the neutrality of the country.”
