Earlier, the wives and mothers of these servicemen made a collective video appeal to the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on social networks and instant messengers. They complained that their men, who serve in military unit 29655 (regiment 1231), “were seconded to one of the army units in the Donetsk People’s Republic.” By order of her command, “they have to go on the assault with virtually no weapons, like cannon fodder,” including those mobilized from the support company. “Men defend the native lands of the inhabitants of the DPR with machine guns,” the appeal says.
Women note that earlier letters about this were sent to the “reception of the President of the Russian Federation and other subordinate bodies.”
