MMA fighter Vladimir Mineev suspended his career to participate in a special operation

Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Vladimir Mineev announced the suspension of his sports career in connection with the decision to participate in the military operation in Ukraine.
“Will I have additional training before being sent to a special military operation? Yes, like all volunteers. I’ll go to school like everyone else. You need to remember your skills, learn something new. At the moment, my career is being paused, ”said the athlete (quoted from TASS).
About the fact that he received a summons, Vladimir Mineev told September 25th. Then he said that he “is not going to run” and intends to visit the military registration and enlistment office. Despite the fact that the command of the military unit provided the athlete with a reservation, he signed a contract for military service.
Vladimir Mineev is 32 years old. In mixed martial arts, he won 16 fights, lost 1 and ended in a draw. On October 16, 2021, Mineev defended the AMC Fight Nights Championship belt by defeating Magomed Ismailov (17–3 in MMA) via TKO in the third round. Previously served in the Airborne Forces.
