Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jeff Monson, who lives in Russia, has begun the process of renunciation of US citizenship. He says he wants nothing to do with the United States.
“I am indeed going through the US citizenship renunciation process. This process may take a couple of months. I miss my family, but that’s about it. I don’t want to have anything to do with America,” said the athlete.
He stated that the US is “causing unprecedented suffering with its wars, sanctions and interference in the affairs of other countries.” Monson also added that he is happy in Russia, but the reason why he renounces American citizenship is primarily related to Washington’s domestic and foreign policy.
Recall that Monson received a Russian passport in 2018. In the same year, he was elected to the Council of Deputies of the Krasnogorsk urban district near Moscow.
