Mizulina: no restrictions on YouTube are expected

The head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, during a meeting with students in Nizhny Novgorod, said that restrictions on YouTube video hosting are not expected in Russia, since there are no domestic analogues for it in the country yet.
Answering a question from students about the possibility of introducing restrictions on the use of video hosting, Mizulina indicated that this is a “very interesting topic”, since at the moment there is no really worthy alternative for it in Russia. She emphasized that in the future VKplay (VK video) will likely become a worthy Russian analogue, but this service still needs to be improved.
As the head of the “Safe Internet League” noted, having abandoned advertising, YouTube often began to offer recommendations when searching, including “videos from the territory of Ukraine that tell bad things about our country.” According to Mizulina, this constitutes “harsh manipulation” on the part of YouTube. At the same time, she added that there are no analogues of the platform in Russia yet and will not appear in the near future, therefore, from the point of view of restrictions, nothing of this kind is expected yet.
