MISIS University students created images of their academic disciplines using the Midjourney neural network, presenting them in the form of metaphorical images. The prototypes of the paintings were the heroes of the cartoon “Heroes of the Third Planet”, mastering various sciences. By the way, the story “Alice’s Journey”, on which the picture was drawn, next year will celebrate 50 years since the birth.
Asya Divekha, the author of the project, a master student of the Graphic Design and Applied Graphics program, said that a neural network can easily learn from a large number of images.
— We study at NUST MISIS, which is why we chose those academic disciplines that are available at our university. We combined them with the most recognizable sci-fi cartoon created in Russian, where humanity has made great progress in creating technology and space travel,” explained Asya Divekha.
The Midjourney neural network is a creative program that, with certain given parameters, decides for itself how this or that character of the work will look, based on the analysis of thousands of existing examples.
– After we create a request, in practice we must understand the principles of information processing and its visualization. For us, as students who will work with neural networks in the future, it is important now to learn how to make queries as accurately as possible,” the author of the project specified.
By the way, students of the NUST MISIS Hackathon Club have already created their own NeuroStanislavsky play generator, which for the first time in Russia wrote a play presented at the Moscow Biennale of Theater Arts in November 2022.
