NUST MISIS students and young scientists have invented a special protective coating, which is one and a half times better than all existing technologies, protects components and parts of modern technology from corrosion and oxidation.

As the authors of the invention note, the peculiarity of the technology lies in the fact that it combines three deposition methods based on different physical principles in a single cycle. The result is a multi-layer coating with characteristics such as high wear resistance, corrosion resistance and heat resistance.

According to Philip Kiryukhantsev-Korneev, Head of the In Situ Diagnostics of Structural Transformations laboratory, as a result of three processing stages, a hermetic heat-resistant top layer is formed that prevents oxygen diffusion from aggressive media.

The resulting three-layer coating turned out to be one and a half times more resistant to corrosion and high-temperature oxidation than the base coats.noted Philip Kiryukhantsev-Korneev.

According to scientists, such coatings will increase the service life and performance of critical components of propulsion systems, oil refinery pumps and other parts that are subject to simultaneous wear and corrosion.
