Mishustin: the concept of technological development of Russia involves new approaches

The concept of Russia’s technological development, designed for the next eight years, involves radically new approaches, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at the beginning of a strategic session on strengthening technological sovereignty.

“Today we will review the concept of technological development, designed for the next eight years. It involves radically new approaches in this area. We will also discuss the first results by industry. Moreover, there are already some successful examples in terms of achieving technological sovereignty. This is a very rewarding experience. It is important to analyze it in detail and draw appropriate conclusions, including when setting priorities for the current year,” quotes Prime Minister press service of the Cabinet.

During his opening remarks, Mishustin once again recalled that strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty is one of the key tasks previously outlined by the President of Russia. The prime minister emphasized that in order to maintain the stability of the most important industries, it is necessary to ensure a high degree of independence in the creation of technologies, developments and engineering solutions in a short time, as well as to master the production of almost all critical products.

As Mishustin stated, this work should be carried out on the basis of our own resources and our own competencies. “Therefore, now it is required to strengthen, and in fact, raise to a fundamentally new level, the production, personnel and scientific potential of our country,” he continued.

Last summer, Russian President Vladimir Putin declaredthat the withdrawal of foreign companies from the Russian market will allow the country to get rid of the “dangerous and humiliating dependence” on Western technologies. In February of this year, the head of state said that scientists in Russia need to create “proactive products” and developments in a short period of time that can ensure the technological sovereignty of the country. Putin emphasizedthat in this case it is necessary to act “in advance” so that “unique, globally competitive solutions” are created in Russia that will allow the country to be technologically independent.
