Mishustin instructed to create 16 military training centers at federal universities

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin order instructed to create military training centers (VUTs) at federal state educational organizations of higher education. The necessary measures will be taken by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Mishustin ordered.
The centers will be established at:
- Astrakhan State University named after Tatishchev;
- Vyatka State Agrotechnological University;
- Far Eastern State Agrarian University;
- Izhevsk State Technical University named after Kalashnikov;
- Lipetsk State Technical University;
- National Research Mordovian State University named after Ogarev;
- Novgorod State University. Yaroslav the Wise;
- Oryol State University named after Turgenev;
- Volga State Technological University;
- Pskov State University;
- Sakhalin State University;
- Smolensk State University;
- Tyumen State University;
- Cherepovets State University;
- Chechen State University named after Kadyrov;
- Yaroslavl State Technical University.
The order was dated December 23, but was only published today, December 27. Military training centers train career officers. It is assumed that after graduation from the university, students who studied there will serve under the contract. By data As of 2019, there were about 100 universities in Russia at which the VUC worked.
Formerly Ministry of Education and Science announced a course on the basics of military training in Russian universities. In November, the Ministry of Defense supported the proposal of “A Just Russia – For Truth” to introduce basic military training for schoolchildren and students of colleges and technical schools, given the “relevance of the issue.”
