Miroshnik: Zelensky is inclined to clean up the political field around him

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was accused of being inclined to persecute the opposition and cleanse the political field around him by any available methods. This statement was made by Ambassador Rodion Miroshnik in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.
“Many exponents of views different from Zelensky have already become victims of his persecution. And, perhaps, new ones will appear,” Miroshnik noted.
The diplomat also emphasized that internal conflicts in Ukraine are associated with expectations of internal changes, which could lead to a new wave of repression.
The ambassador said that at the moment there are no grounds for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, since Zelensky and the Ukrainian government as a whole do not have sufficient authority for such negotiations.
In recent days, possible upcoming elections have begun to be discussed in Ukraine. According to some sources, the authorities have begun preparations for the presidential elections in the spring of 2024. However, Zelensky said that at this time it is “absolutely irresponsible” to raise the topic of elections in wartime conditions, and that “now is not the time for elections.”
