Mironov proposed to legalize PMC “Wagner” for the capture of Soledar

The head of the Just Russia – For Truth faction, Sergei Mironov, noted the merits of the Wagner PMC fighters Yevgeny Prigozhin during the capture of Soledar in particular and during the special operation in general. In this regard, the MP proposed to adopt a law on the legalization of private military companies.

“I want to talk about PMC Wagner, because it was their efforts that Soledar was released. Our army has a lot to learn from the Wagner PMC in terms of the work and training of its recruits, its mobilized, because they have good experience here, ”Sergey Mironov said during the plenary session of the State Duma, his words are quoted on site parties.

Sergei Mironov recalled that in 2018 his faction had already introduced a similar bill, but it was rejected.

“The bill is ready, it is clear who objects to it, why the government gives negative opinions over and over again. But since there are already legal relations, isn’t it the job of the legislator to regulate them by the norm of the law?!” Mr. Mironov remarked.

A Just Russia – For the Truth has repeatedly proposed introducing a law to regulate the activities of private military companies. The bill was last submitted to the State Duma on March 31, 2022. According to Sergei Mironov, it is similar to the one introduced in 2018. The document assumed that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation would establish supervision over the activities of PMCs. They will be able to exercise their powers only outside of Russia.

On January 10, Yevgeny Prigozhin reported that Wagner PMC troops took control of Soledar (a town in the Bakhmut region of the DPR). At the same time, he noted that only Wagner PMC employees are involved in the city. On January 13, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the capture of Soledar thanks to artillery, rocket attacks and the efforts of airborne units. Later that day the department addedthat volunteers from the detachments of the Wagner PMC were engaged in the “direct assault on the city blocks” of Soledar.

Evgeny Prigozhin acknowledged in September 2022, which created Wagner PMC in 2014. The businessman said that the reason was the need to protect the Russians in the Donbass. Prior to this, Yevgeny Prigozhin denied any involvement in the company and sued the media for allegations of his connection with PMCs.
