Mintsifra will create a single mobile operator for new regions

The Ministry of Digital Transformation was instructed to create a single mobile operator that will operate on the territory of the LPR, DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. About this in a conversation with RIA Novosti informed Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

“The Ministry of Digital Transformation has been instructed to create a single mobile operator that will cover the territories of four new subjects,” he said.

According to Chernyshenko, now communication tariffs in the new regions are kept at the level of the all-Russian ones. The tasks that the Russian government has set for itself are related to the need to provide residents of new regions with high-quality communication services. To do this, monitoring and collecting feedback from users is carried out, Chernyshenko added.

Formerly Deputy Head of the Ministry of Digital Development Dmitry Kim suggestedthat mobile operators MirTelecom and +7Telecom, operating in Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, may enter the DPR market. Later Minister of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev informedthat those mobile operators that operate in the regions will receive benefits until 2025.

During a special operation in Ukraine, the Russian military took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. At the end of September, five-day referendums were held in these territories on the issue of joining subjects to Russia. Residents supported the entry of regions into the Russian Federation by a majority of votes.

On September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions signed agreements on the regions joining Russia. On October 4, the Federation Council, following the State Duma, ratified all the treaties, and the next day the head of state signed federal laws on the admission of four new subjects to the Russian Federation.
