Ministry of Labor: the number of idle employees decreased by 3.5 times

The number of workers in Russia who are idle has decreased over the year by 3.5 times, and those working part-time – by 3.2 times. This was told by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Elena Mukhtiyarova, transmits TASS.

“Over the past year, the number of idle or part-time workers has more than tripled. If last year at the same time the number of part-time workers was more than 130,000, now it is less than 40,000 people. The number of citizens who are idle has also decreased by more than 3.5 times over the year,” she said.

Yesterday, June 29, Rosstat published data on the socio-economic situation in Russia, from which it follows that the unemployment rate in the country in May updated its historical low, falling to 3.2%. According to Rosstat, the labor force in the country at the age of 15 was 75.8 million people, including 2.4 million unemployed (corresponding to ILO criteria: they did not have a job, they were looking for it and were ready to start it in the surveyed week) . The level of employment of the population amounted to 60.6%.

As Vedomosti wrote earlier, the growth in real wages of Russians – that is, adjusted for inflation – in April reached a record for five years and amounted to 10.4% compared to the same period last year, follows from Rosstat data. The last time the indicator grew at a double-digit pace was in February 2018 (then the increase was 10.5%).

On June 16, on the sidelines of SPIEF, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov said that in a number of regions unemployment exceeds 10%. “These are labor-surplus territories with which we will have to work purposefully, targeted,” he said. Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the SPIEF, said that it was possible to reach the minimum values ​​of unemployment and inflation in Russia thanks to an “effective combination” – the responsible implementation of a balanced budget and monetary policy.
