Men are more likely to seek help from the employer – Kommersant

Male employees are increasingly taking part in employee support programs (EPS), Olga Melnikova, Business Development Director at Corporate Health LLC, said at the conference “Summer HR Forum»organized by Kommersant Publishing House.

According to her, if in 2018 among employees who applied for help to the employer, there were 82% of women and only 18% of men, then in 2022 the gender ratio was already 73% and 27%, respectively. The statistics are based on data from corporate health client companies and cover more than 300,000 people.

“When they say that men practically do not use PPP, this is not true: the level is slowly growing. Last year there was a surge, especially in September (against the background of partial mobilization.— “b”). This year, the ratio is approaching 30%, that is, men continue to seek help,” said Ms. Melnikova.

Traditionally, employees aged 30–39 (46%) are the most active in the PPP, but at the same time, the number of applications from younger (20–29 years old – 27%) and older (40–49 years old – 19%) employees is growing. The most frequent problems that come to the employer are of a psychological nature – 56%. At the same time, the request for financial assistance has recently grown significantly: if in 2019 in the total structure of applications there were only 1.9% of them, then in 2022 – already 8%. “Many people have lost their jobs, it has become difficult for many to manage the family budget, so this interest is growing every year,” Olga Melnikova explained.

In the structure of psychological requests, almost half is occupied by personal problems of employees (46%), 18% complain about work difficulties. Among the latter, burnout (26.3%), stress (16.1%), as well as problems with finding a balance between work and personal life (13%) prevail.
