The Ministry of Justice of Russia has included Greenpeace in the list of non-governmental organizations whose activities are recognized as undesirable in the country. Previously, the activity of Greenpeace was recognized as undesirable by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
“The list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations whose activities are recognized as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation includes the international non-governmental non-profit organization Greenpeace International (Stichting Greenpeace Council) (“Greenpeace International”, “Greenpeace Council Foundation”, “GREENPEACE”) (Netherlands)”, — note in the Ministry of Justice.
Greenpeace, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office, “finances the activities of foreign agents” and requires changes in Russian legislation. His efforts are aimed at “destabilizing the socio-political situation and attempting to change power in the country in an unconstitutional way,” according to the supervisory authority. After the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the press service of the Russian branch of Greenpeace reported that the organization stop their work in Russia.
Founded in 1971 in Canada, Greenpeace in Russia since 1992 has been involved in projects for the separate collection of waste, the conservation of forests and the extinguishing of forest fires.
