As the head of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia Rati Bregadze stated on the air of the IMEDI TV channel, the Ukrainian authorities did not send a request to Tbilisi for the extradition of the ex-president of the republic Mikheil Saakashvili to him.
“I would like to clarify that we have not received a request to transfer Saakashvili to Ukraine. Therefore, I consider it inappropriate to bring this issue up for discussion now,” the Georgian minister explained.
Earlier, Saakashvili’s lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze told TASS that a Kiev court had decided to temporarily transfer the former Georgian leader to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies for investigation. The court in Kyiv is considering a case that affects the activities of a politician in Ukraine during the years of Petro Poroshenko’s tenure as president.
