All Russian citizens, including participants in the military operation in Ukraine, are entitled to free infertility treatment using reproductive technologies if indicated, the Russian Ministry of Health explained. Former President of the Union of Lawyers of Russia Igor Trunov addressed to the government with a request to introduce a quota that will allow those mobilized to use reproductive services free of charge, including for the treatment of infertility and the storage of spermatozoa in a cryobank.
As Interfax was told in the press service of the ministry, in accordance with the current legislation, a man and a woman, both married and unmarried, have the right to use assisted reproductive technologies (IVF), the stage of which is cryopreservation of biomaterial.
The materials of the program of state guarantees of free provision of medical care to citizens for 2022 and for the planned period of 2023–2024 indicate that reproductive services are financed within the framework of the compulsory medical insurance system.
About cryopreservation technology – in the material “Kommersant Science” “Freezing People”.
