Ministry of Finance invited Turkey and the UAE to start negotiations on tax agreements

The Ministry of Finance has sent Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) proposals to enter into negotiations on amending double tax treaties (DTAs), Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazanov told Vedomosti. “But this does not mean that the agreements will definitely be changed,” Sazanov said. Possible changes will depend on the interests of both parties, the deputy minister added. “So far, we have proposed to enter into negotiations, to discuss what problematic issues there are, and to understand whether we can reach mutual agreements that will suit both sides,” Sazanov said. According to him, the ministry has not yet received a response from Turkey and the UAE.
The fact that the Ministry of Finance began preparing a list of friendly countries for the revision of the DTT became known in the fall of 2022. Sazanov then told Vedomosti that the ministry was preparing proposals to start negotiations with Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia to send to the government.
