Ministry of Education: Collecting money from parents for school repairs is a criminal case

Minister of Education Sargey Kravtsov said at the all-Russian meeting of parents that school administrations do not have the right to demand money from parents for repairs in an educational institution. The head of the Ministry of Education stressed that the funds for the repair of schools are included in the budgets of the regions.
“There should be no collection of money from parents for the repair of schools, this is a criminal case,” Kravtsov said.
He noted that “overhaul programs are fully supported by the budget.” The official added that over the next five years, 7,300 schools are planned to be repaired with federal funds, and about 4,000 more schools are planned to be repaired with regional funds.
