Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation: radioactive substances were brought to Ukraine for provocation

The Ukrainian side, before the start of the emergency special session of the UN General Assembly, is preparing a provocation to accuse Russia of allegedly violating the obligations of the nuclear safety convention – radioactive substances were brought into the country bypassing customs from Europe, reported in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“To implement this provocation, several containers with radioactive substances were delivered from the territory of one of the European states to Ukraine, bypassing customs inspection, which will be used to stage local contamination of the area in the area of ​​​​one of the radiation-hazardous objects controlled by the Kiev regime,” the ministry said in a statement.

The department clarified that in this way the Ukrainian authorities plan to accuse the Russian Armed Forces of allegedly striking at radiation-hazardous objects on the territory of Ukraine, followed by leakage and contamination of the area.

February 14 at the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response of the Ministry of Defense reportedthat Ukraine plans to accuse Russia of contaminating the territories near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Kyiv is preparing to spread false information, allegedly confirming that Russian military personnel were engaged in theft of radioactive materials and chemical solutions, and also took them out of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. As a result, this led to exposure in the settlements of Bucha, Gostomel and Irpen, as well as in areas near the Kyiv-Pripyat road. According to the available data, everything described refers to the events from February to April 2022.

According to the humanitarian headquarters, the provocation is being prepared with the support of the United States and European countries, in particular, Norway was involved in the preparation of the information, experts from which will make an “independent conclusion.” It is assumed that a special website will be created for information support. Also, funds will be allocated for the publication of a series of materials in major American and European media.

Timed to coincide with the anniversary of the start of the special operation, an emergency special session of the General Assembly is scheduled for February 22.
