Ministry of Defense of Slovakia: the country was left without air defense due to supplies to Kyiv

Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kaliniak said in an interview with the Standard that it will take years to develop a new air defense system to replace the Soviet-made S-300 system, which was transferred to Ukraine in 2022.
According to the minister, the previous government was unable to agree on its own replacement with the S-300 or on leasing systems from allies for at least a few years.
He also accused the past government of Slovakia of leaving the country without missile defense and combat aircraft, since the MiG-29s were also transferred to Ukraine, and the promised compensation for them of 700 million euros was never provided by the EU and the United States.
