Ministry of Defense: MiG-31 escorted the R-3C “Orion” of the Norwegian Air Force over the Barents Sea

Russian means of airspace control over the Barents Sea have detected an air target approaching the Russian border. As a result, a MiG-31 was lifted into the air from the air defense forces of the Northern Fleet. This was reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
“The crew of the Russian fighter jet identified the air target as the R-3C Orion base patrol aircraft of the Norwegian Air Force and escorted it over the Barents Sea,” the Defense Ministry said in a Telegram channel.
Russian aviation exercised control over the actions of the foreign crew. After some time, the Orion turned around from the Russian state border, after which the MiG-31 returned to its base airfield. The Ministry of Defense stressed that there was no violation of the border.
