China and India clash in the Himalayas

Between the Chinese and Indian military on December 9 there was an exchange of fire in the region in the north-east of India Arunachal Pradesh. About it informs Ani agency, citing sources.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, the clash led to the wounding of “several servicemen” on both sides. It is specified that after the incident, the military left the area “immediately.”
Hindu edition also citing “multiple” sources informs about several wounded Indian soldiers in a firefight. Their number is not specified. In addition, the incident was confirmed by the representative of the Ministry of Defense of India. According to him, the losses of the Chinese side were “much more significant than the Indian.”
The incident was confirmed by several other Indian officials. However, they declined to comment on it. Another interlocutor of the publication claims that 600 Chinese soldiers participated in the clash.
According to Ani sources, after the incident, the parties held a meeting during which they discussed issues of “restoring peace and tranquility” in the region.
According to Hindu, the previous incident between Chinese and Indian troops took place in June 2020 in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh. Then 20 soldiers from the Indian side were killed, several more were injured. The Indian Foreign Ministry blamed Beijing for the clash.
China and India have been waging a long-standing dispute over the ownership of a piece of mountainous territory in the north of Kashmir, as well as in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. The Line of Actual Control passes through the Ladakh region. Due to the uncertainty over the border, the troops of the two countries often collide while patrolling the territory.
