Ministry of Defense: Head of the General Staff Gerasimov was at the forward control post during the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, was at the forward control post during the attack by the Ukrainian armed forces, said the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov.

Earlier it was reported that on Sunday, Ukrainian troops attempted to attack with large forces in the Yuzhno-Donets direction.

“The commander of the united group of troops – the chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Gerasimov V.V. during this period was at one of the advanced command posts in this direction,” Konashenkov said.

Earlier, the head of the Zaporozhye public movement “We are together with Russia”, Volodymyr Rogov, said that the armed formations of Ukraine, which included mercenaries from Poland, attempted to break through the front in the Zaporozhye direction, but were thrown back. The battle in the Zaporozhye direction lasted 8 hours, and its result was the loss of Ukrainian nationalists in manpower and armored vehicles, as well as their retreat. Rogov also pointed out that at present there are no signs of a full-scale offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but they continue to probe the line of defense and the readiness of Russian troops to repel a more massive attack.
