Ministry of construction: new regions will need 48,000 builders this year

New regions of Russia in 2023 will need 48,000 builders, told First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Construction Alexander Lomakin in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Last year at the peak we had 48,000 people there. I think we will need the same number this year,” he said.

As the official noted, the volume of work for this year not only did not decrease, but also increased in “some part”. At the same time, the share of local residents employed in construction in new regions does not exceed 20%. The subordinate structure of the Ministry of Construction, Roscapstroy, has concluded agreements with local colleges and universities on cooperation in retraining personnel and additional education of specialists for the construction industry, he added.

The total shortage of personnel in Russian construction Lomakin estimated at 171,000 people, housing and communal services – 90,000. In total, 11 million people work in these areas.

On September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions signed agreements on joining the regions to Russia after the referendums held in them. At the end of 2022, the restoration of new territories in Russia was carried out ahead of schedule, informed former head of the Ministry of Construction Irek Fayzullin. According to the minister, 42,000 people are restoring new territories, and at peak times the number of builders reached 60,000.

During his address to the Federal Assembly on February 21, Putin emphasizedthat Russia has already begun and will continue a large-scale program of socio-economic recovery and development of new subjects of the country. We are talking, in particular, about the revival of enterprises and ports, the construction of new roads.
