Mini-football tournament held in Ulan-Ude dedicated to the memory of Afghan soldiers

On March 18, the city of Ulan-Ude hosted the jubilee XXX Interregional mini-football tournament “In Memory of Afghan Soldiers”. It was attended by 25 teams from schools, technical schools and colleges of Buryatia, the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Tyva.

Representatives of the government and the People’s Khural of Buryatia, relatives of soldiers, as well as veterans of the Afghan war came to greet the guests.

As noted by the Minister of Sports and Youth Policy of the Republic Ivan Kozyrev, about 2,500 people from Buryatia took part in the Soviet troops in Afghanistan in the hostilities.

– 26 of our fellow countrymen died on the spot, more than 200 officers and soldiers died of wounds and diseases already here, in their native land. It is very important to hold such tournaments in order not only to remember ourselves, but also to do everything possible so that young people also know about it.

The first place and the title of Champion of the XXX Interregional Tournament “In Memory of Warriors – Afghans” was won by the team “Loko” from 26 schools in the city of Ulan-Ude, the team of the Buryat Pedagogical College “Olimp” took the second place, and the team of the Buryat College of Construction and Industrial Technologies took the third place Kyakhty.

The prize “For the Will to Victory” was awarded to the team of the Polytechnic College of the Kabansky District. Special prizes were awarded to Alexander Kuzinov as the “Best Player”, Ivan Kuleshov as the “Best Goalkeeper”, Valentin Kopylov as the “Best Defender” and Maxim Shironov as the “Best Forward”.

Winners of the teams were awarded medals, certificates, cash prizes, and the teams received Cups. The best players, coaches and referees were awarded with special prizes.
