State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov proposed to make signs in the country’s cities in the pre-revolutionary style. The parliamentarian was inspired by the experience of Rybinsk in the Yaroslavl region, where since 2017 all outdoor advertising has been stylized as the 19th century. Milonov sent his proposal to the Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.
In his letter, the deputy noted that now the appearance of tourist and historical streets is literally littered with signs and stands that spoil the appearance of architectural ensembles. The parliamentarian recalled that in some cities, at the initiative of local authorities, the principle of “advertising uniformity” is being implemented. And advertising signs not only do not spoil the streets, but also harmoniously complement buildings and monuments.
“A good example in this case is the experience of Rybinsk, where all outdoor advertising in the center is done in the pre-revolutionary style. I believe that a similar experience could be implemented in other historical, cultural and tourist regions of our country, ”Parliamentskaya Gazeta quotes Milonov.
The parliamentarian believes that in this way it is possible to protect and decorate the historical centers of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and other ancient cities of Russia.
