Milonov announced the punishment of teachers for schoolchildren celebrating Halloween

The deputy has long wanted to ban the “holiday of evil spirits”

State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov proposed sending teachers whose students in their care celebrate Halloween for recertification. Despite its foreign origin, in the late 1990s, Halloween came to Russia – however, more often in the form of themed parties in nightclubs and schools. Halloween has its own opponents in our parliament, who oppose its holding every year.

– This holiday is not only alien to us, but also harmful. This is a kind of form of Satanism, devil worship,” Vitaly Milonov, deputy chairman of the Committee on Family, Women and Children, categorically told MK. “We must not allow our children to become involved in this dark side of American culture, which is destroying the foundations of our traditions and moral purity. You shouldn’t flirt with evil, because sooner or later, evil will start playing with you and then children will become feminists or LGBT activists. Is this the future we want for our younger generation?

If I receive reports about the celebration or inclination to celebrate Halloween in Russian schools, I will seek to send those teachers who allowed this to be recertified and retrained.

Five years ago, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov already opened a hotline, to which he invited parents to send complaints about Halloween celebrations in schools. The deputy confirmed that the hotline continues to operate.

“Every year I receive several dozen messages in connection with this holiday of Satan in schools,” continues Milonov. – Not only from my native St. Petersburg, but also from other regions of the country. We react to each of them. Severe punishments in the form of dismissal of teachers have not yet been reached, while the perpetrators were limited to disciplinary sanctions.

Despite its wide popularity, Halloween has never caught on in Russia: only 3% of Russians celebrate the holiday, according to the latest VTsIOM survey. Sociologists note increased interest in the holiday only in the youngest age group (18% among 18-24 year olds). In our country, the holiday of evil spirits is perceived more like a carnival, without identification with religion.
