Russia is on the verge of complete technological sovereignty; it will be achieved in the near future. This statement was made by Gazprom Chairman of the Board Alexey Miller during the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

“We are all already on the threshold of complete technological sovereignty. These are not big words. Complete technological sovereignty. This is our immediate future,” he said.

Miller noted that the departure of Western partners did not affect Gazprom’s activities. According to him, the company continues to “work rhythmically” and fulfills all previously outlined plans. In addition, Miller continued, “Western business circles” are interested in returning Russian gas supplies, since Western countries “have always consumed [газа] more than we mined.”

In July 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the authorities of a number of Western countries organized a technological blockade of Russia. “Our opponents hoped that we would retreat, surrender, but it will not be so, as we often say in such cases: Russia will only move forward, and in its own way, without isolating itself from anyone,” – emphasized then he.

In August the head of state admittedthat in some areas there is a lag in achieving technological sovereignty. At the same time, the authorities understand this and are taking measures to solve the problem, he added. In particular, preferential treatment for industrial clusters, industrial mortgages and a cluster investment platform were launched, Putin recalled.

In June 2022, press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov statedthat for technological sovereignty Russia must create its own “Diamond Fund of Technologies” in 10-20 years from 30-50 of its own developments in the field of food, security, medicine, etc.
