Military personnel on the easternmost island of the Russian Federation voted in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation

Border guards, who are located on the easternmost island of Russia, took part in early voting in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation. The polling station was organized by helicopter, as Marina Konshina, chairman of the TEC of the Chukotka municipal region, told the TASS agency.

“The election commission of polling station No. 54 conducted early voting among military personnel on Ratmanov Island. We arrived here on a border service helicopter. The island greeted us on a bright frosty day with ideal weather. The military personnel voted directly in the helicopter, members of the commission prepared everything necessary for voting, including election documents and information about candidates. The military took turns entering the helicopter, made their choice and dropped the ballot into a sealed box,” said Marina Konshina.

Members of election commission No. 7 conducted the early voting procedure at the Zapadno-Ozernoye gas field. More than 20 shift workers cast their vote for the candidate they liked best. General Director of Sibneft-Chukotka Vitaly Plotnikov told TASS that due to the remote location of production, the company cannot take workers out to vote on main days.

Member of PEC No. 7 Galina Latskevich explained that the ballot box will be sealed and placed in a safe after the early voting of the field workers. On primary voting days, it will be placed between the ballot boxes before counting begins. Latskevich also noted that voting at the enterprise took place without incident, voters were friendly and made their choice in accordance with the law.

The Chukotka district election commission reported that about 4,700 voters will take part in early voting in Chukotka; 45 routes are planned, both land and air, with a total length of 30 thousand kilometers.

The presidential elections of the Russian Federation are scheduled for March 17, 2024 by the Federation Council. The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation determined that voting will last three days: March 15, 16 and 17. Thus, this will be the first three-day presidential election in the Russian Federation. Early voting began in the country on February 25.
