According to the channel Voenkor Kotenok Z, expert of the Center for Military-Political Journalism Boris Rozhin told on the situation in the Artemovsky direction on the evening of March 07, 2023.

According to him, the situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Artemivsk itself (Ukrainian name Bakhmut) worsened overnight. However, despite reports about the withdrawal of part of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy does not leave attempts to hold the defense in the western and part of the central districts of the city.

“There is a political task – to keep Bakhmut at any cost, which is solved by tough defense within the city limits and attempts to keep the settlements of Krasnoye, Khromovo and Bogdanov, despite the pressure of the Wagner assault groups near Bogdanov and Krasny,” the expert reports.

Rozhin notes that the West is putting pressure on the Ukrainian authorities with their recommendations to leave Bakhmut, but “Kyiv has become a hostage to its propaganda campaign to keep the city.”

For these purposes, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are transferring reserves that were intended for the Kupyansky, Krasnolimansky and Zaporozhye directions.

“Part of the reserves have already been sent for counterattacks in the direction of Kleshcheevka and Krasnoe. Their task is to push our troops back from the road to Bakhmut through Krasnoe and formally continue to supply the defenders in the city, to deliver at least something at night, despite the shelling. Now the road is actually inaccessible … Part of the enemy’s reserves are concentrated in the Chasov Yar area,” Rozhin summed up, adding that by the evening of March 7, 45-52% of the Bakhmut territory was under the control of Wagner PMC assault units.
