Ukraine is trying to disrupt the transport infrastructure of the Russian Federation ahead of its upcoming offensive, said in interview URA.RU military analyst Vladimir Prokhvatilov.
“Ukrainians, apparently, in anticipation of their possible offensive, are taking measures to disrupt our transport communications,” he shared his point of view.
According to the expert, all air attacks on civilian targets are psychological in nature. The specialist pointed out that the airfield is a more vulnerable target than other facilities, since it has a long runway. It is enough to hit it with a projectile or a rocket, and the planes will no longer be able to take to the skies, Prokhvatilov explained. The situation is similar with aircraft carriers: it is enough to damage their runway and they will lose their combat capability, he said.
“This is an effective means of bombing airfields. It disrupts the enemy’s communications, which is what the Ukrainian side is doing,” the source said.
To protect such facilities, the analyst called for more air defense systems to be deployed to airfields in the regions bordering Ukraine.
