Mikhail Kravets: “The third period of this Avangard game gives us hope for the future”

On November 23, Avangard played a match in Ufa with Salavat Yulaev and conceded 1:3. The meeting was appreciated by the team’s head coach Mikhail Kravets.

The mentor did not throw ashes on his head because of the defeat, since the content of the match still encouraged him in some way.

– The opponent, in my opinion, deservedly won. Especially in the first two periods he had more desire and movement. The accuracy was better.

But we found the strength to play at good speed in the third period. Even in the end they surpassed their opponent in throws. This will be good preparation for us. The team has potential, the players tried and put a lot of effort into winning.

– Why didn’t Avangard shoot at the hosts’ goal for almost 11 minutes?

– There were inaccurate passes. The opponent sat well in his zone, but because of this we did not have time to launch an attack, we were pinned in the zone. You need to run faster and pass more accurately to find shots.

– Why did you decide not to play “6 x 4” in the majority?

– That’s what I decided. We have a good majority unit, it can score goals and thereby bring victory.

– Why doesn’t Libor Shulak join Avangard for the third match? Are there any grounds for the insiders that talk about his imminent exchange?

– You still shouldn’t ask me for such news. The other defenders had held the previous two meetings. I actually talked with Shulak, we found out what was needed for him to act brightly. For the most part, all such things depend on the hockey player himself.

– How did the team react to the interrupted winning streak?

– It’s not even a series of successes. Any athlete can always win. We wanted it too. When you lose, not very good emotions arise, you get upset. But the third period today is encouraging for us. On the tour we won two out of three matches. Under no circumstances should you be upset that you lost today.
