Mikhail Kravets: “The opponent completed his task today a little better than Avangard”

“Avangard” December 24 conceded at home in the KHL championship match “Metallurg” 2:3. The meeting was appreciated by the head coach of the Omsk club Mikhail Kravets.

As the mentor noted, the quality of the game turned out to be good.

– The game was equal – both teams had chances to score. Both showed good speed. The opponent scored one more goal. We made two such mistakes, purely individual ones, which harmed us and spoiled the result. And the third goal – there was an episode where you can’t give the puck to your opponent like that. It’s good that we didn’t give up after that, we fought until the end, there were opportunities to score. And in the game they could have evened the score… There is a difficult trip ahead, we need to score points there.

– Do you plan to play Khomchenko in goal in any of the next three away games?

– It’s hard to say yet. Now we have a fairly stable team of goalkeepers – Proskuryakov and Mishurov, but as for Pasha Khomchenko, the question will remain open for now.

– We conceded two goals in the minority today, this is already unusual for Avangard. The reason is that Magnitogorsk acted somehow unconventionally in its draw and caught something?

– I wouldn’t say. She didn’t surprise me in any way. The guests completed their task inside and out, we completed it a little worse. We analyzed how Metallurg plays in the majority. Were ready. Perhaps individual mistakes failed. But what we still lack today is, it seems to me, dedication.

We also note the answer at the same press conference from visiting coach Andrei Razin about Igor Geraskin. The mentor tried not to offend Mikhail Kravets in this regard, but noted: perhaps in Avangard Igor was subject to conditions without which he could have played better. Razin even remembered his own experience of playing for the “hawks” – it came in the 2004/05 season, when the leader was the attack trio Sushinsky – Prokopyev – Zatonsky, and during the tournament Jaromir Jagr also arrived. As a result, the named trio basically played in the majority, for example, and Razin often had to play in the minority – in a role that was not particularly familiar to him. The mentor saw some analogies in the two situations.
