Mikhail Kravets: “In overtime, Avangard tried very hard, it didn’t work, and in the end they achieved success in the shootout”

Avangard completed its home series on November 17 victory in shootouts over Admiral 2:1. The meeting was appreciated by the head coach of the Omsk club Mikhail Kravets.

The mentor noted that the positive of the match lies in the will of the players, when they managed to endure, equalize the score, and then claim victory.

– As we expected in advance, the game turned out to be difficult. Although in general the guys played quite well, they spent most of the time in the opponent’s zone and created a lot of chances. Both in the majority and at five on five. Unfortunately, they weren’t implemented, but there are games like this when the puck doesn’t go into the goal.

But on the other hand, they still endured it, they still equalized the score, and then in overtime they tried very hard to decide the outcome in their favor. It didn’t work out right away, but in the shootout they still put the finishing touches on it.

I think the guys are great, they gave their all to have such a victory today.

– Opposing goalkeeper Sergei Ivanov had 47 “saves” today. Would you rather say that this was his merit, or that the Avangard hockey players made him the star of the match?

– Of course, this is his achievement, he really made a lot of good saves and played great. So we can say that he acted confidently, and somewhere we couldn’t score against him. Everything worked out the same way – the man wanted not to lose to Avangard, so he didn’t miss much.

– As for the shootouts, how did you decide who would perform them this time?

– I’ve had everything set up and planned with them for a long time – I look at training and roll-outs to see who does them better. Those who came out today score most of the shootouts in training. The logic is simple.

– How would you rate this home series in general in terms of content?

– All three games were different in content. Some have 6-5 goals, today only one was missed, two were scored. I will also praise our goalkeeper, he had a difficult match – it’s inconvenient when there are no shots and suddenly you have to pull out a difficult one. He helped the team well. All three games are different, you can eventually draw conclusions, work on mistakes, plus, on the contrary, take something useful into your luggage. The main thing is that everyone is victorious.
