Mikhail Kravets: Avangard achieved an important victory through the efforts of all links

On August 24, Avangard defeated Salavat Yulaev 3: 2 at the Viktor Blinov tournament, which we have already reported. This match was the final one for him at the memorial. After the game, the head coach of our team, Mikhail Kravets, summed up its results and, at the same time, the entire tournament.

Despite the fact that Avangard failed to take the first place at the memorial, the mentor called positive from him.

– Firstly, I would like to congratulate all our fans, thank them for their support throughout the tournament. The final game was against a very good opponent, we always play hard against him. In the first period, the match did not work out a bit. But then the guys added in what needed to be done, did what we asked of them at the very beginning. They began to win martial arts, wrestling, to earn the majority due to speed, to implement it. And by the common team efforts of all 4 links, we achieved, among other things, a psychologically important victory for us.

Now let’s take a break and continue to prepare for the season.

As for the results of the tournament, in general they are ambiguous, you yourself saw what happened in the first game, although there was something good there. The second one was already better, the third one seemed to be good too, but they made a few mistakes and a lot of deletions. And today is already a demonstrative team victory. A good tournament, we learned a lot from it. We saw the mistakes, we saw the positives. We understand what needs to be worked on.

– When the score was winning after the second period, didn’t you change something cardinally for the third one?

– No, we decided to continue playing the same aggressive, active and fast hockey. Probably, it was possible to better use the majority that we had, the one that Geraskin earned. In addition, well done, that at the very end survived. It is also important that we were able to play well in the minority.

– The fourth link played a little today, but rather turned the tide of the match: at first it earned the majority, which was implemented by Tkachev, then scored a goal itself. What can you say about him and, in particular, about Kholodilin, who became the author of the winning goal? Is he knocking on the ground already?

– We probably lacked such a link in the last playoffs, especially in the round with Ak Bars. The guys really didn’t play very much, but they did a lot of useful things.
