Midfielder Sterling left the England team due to robbery

Chelsea London midfielder and England midfielder Raheem Sterling left the team for the World Cup and is leaving Qatar in connection with the attack on his family and home in the UK.
The footballer was not with the national team on December 4, when the British beat Senegal 3-0 in the 1/8 finals of the World Cup. On the morning of 5 December he is in the UK to be with his family. This was announced by the head coach of the English Gareth Southgate after the English media reported on the robbery of his house.
“Today I spoke with Sterling. He is going to fly home. And, obviously, the family in such moments is most important. So we want to give him that opportunity. In the next few days we will see how things develop. It’s obviously not ideal for a team heading into a quarter-final game, but at times like this, family is more important than the team,” Southgate added when asked about Sterling by reporters.
Southgate did not provide details of the incident or whether Sterling plans to return to the team’s base in Qatar, adding that he would not discuss what happened with the player as it was his own business.
The 27-year-old, who has made 81 caps, was not included in the starting XI for England’s booked place in the World Cup quarter-finals against France on 10 December.
The Football Association of England said that Sterling was absent for “personal reasons”.
England captain Harry Kane, who scored the second goal against Senegla, said the team wish Sterling all the best and hope to see him again ‘as soon as possible’.
“It’s not easy to see one of your teammates and his family have to deal with something like this. Therefore, we will have to take it day by day, I am sure that Rahim will talk to the head coach and make the best decision for him and his family, this is the most important thing, ”he added.
