Russian midfielder Alan Dzagoev, who played for Lamia, decided to end his football career. Information about this was confirmed by the club's press service.
The team reported that Lamia is announcing a mutual termination of cooperation with Dzagoev.
“The Russian midfielder expressed a desire to leave our team, at the same time ending a great football career,” the message says.
Earlier it was reported that Dzagoev decided to “hang up his boots” due to serious knee damage. The fact that the football player had a lot of injuries in recent years was confirmed directly by the club.
Alan Dzagoev was born on June 17, 1990 in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
He is a three-time champion of Russia, four times won the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup. Nine times he was included in the list of 33 best football players in the national championship.
For most of his career - from 2008 to 2022 - he played for the capital CSKA. He also played for Krylia Sovetov (Samara) and Rubin (Kazan) over the years. In 2023 he moved to the Greek Lamia.
He was a member of the Russian national team from 2008 to 2018.
