American corporation Microsoft announced about the termination of the WordPad text editor. The application has not been updated for a long time and will be removed in the next Windows update.
The WordPad text editor has been installed with the Windows operating system since 1995. It is a simple text editor with rich text, you can insert links and files into it. For a long time, WordPad could not be uninstalled – the ability to do this through the control panel appeared only in February 2020. Microsoft suggests users open documents in .doc and .rtf formats using Microsoft Word, and notes with the .txt extension in Notepad.
Previously Microsoft released update of the Windows 11 operating system, in which the OS installation interface was redesigned and a function was added to improve the quality of the user’s voice during video calls, and the “screen narrator” was improved. The company also started test launching the Copilot AI assistant by default in Windows 11.
