Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Journalism at MGIMO, Yuri Kobaladze, was dismissed from the university at his own request, the MGIMO press service reported to Kommersant. He resigned from his position on November 14, a month after he invited TV presenter Ivan Urgant to a lecture.

About dismissal earlier this week reported students of the educational institution. According to RT, the university management “was shocked” by Mr. Kobaladze’s decision to invite the TV presenter to the university. Ivan Urgant in his Telegram-channel described the situation with the words: “Oh, vaudeville, vaudeville…”.

Yuri Kobaladze is a retired major general of the Foreign Intelligence Service. He worked for Ekho Moskvy, TASS and State Television and Radio Broadcasting.

October 18, State Duma deputies asked check Ivan Urgant for funding the Ukrainian armed forces. The same check will be carried out in relation to showman Maxim Galkin (included by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in the register of foreign agents), artist Alexander Revva and presenter Alexander Gudkov.
