The head of the Don diocese, Metropolitan Mercury, said on the air of the Don-TR TV channel that the icon of the Mother of God saved Rostov-on-Don on June 21 during an attempted rebellion by the Wagner PMC.
According to the Metropolitan, on June 24 the priests served a prayer service before the Don Icon of the Mother of God.
In turn, the Telegram channel “Rise” cites a comment by the press secretary of the Metropolis, Igor Petrovsky, who explained that then, based on the tense situation, it was decided to hold an urgent prayer service. And later it became clear that negotiations began during the service.
Petrovsky added that historically it was customary to pray in front of the Don Icon of the Mother of God in difficult times. So, he recalled, after a prayer in 1591, the army of Khan Kazy Giray left Moscow.
