Metro and trams closed in Athens due to May Day strike

“We are on strike demanding a minimum wage that meets the needs of the workers, free trade union activity without interference from the employer… Together we fight for our just demands, against our impoverishment and impoverishment,” the Athens Metro Workers Union said in a statement.

Trade unions held protests near the parliament building in Athens against rising prices and low wages, transmits TASS. Moreover, representatives of the French trade unions also took part in the demonstrations.
22 April Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis asked President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou to dissolve parliament and call elections for May 21 this year. The head of state supported the prime minister’s proposal by scheduling elections for that date.
