Metallurg suffered their fifth defeat in a row

Metallurg played an away match in Togliatti against Lada.

The Magnitogorsk team approached the game with Lada with the baggage of four defeats. There were a lot of changes in the lineup: Ilya Nabokov, Robin Press, Makar Khabarov, Mikhail Grass, Luke Johnson were announced for the match.

The first period was marked by one goal. Its author was Lada player Alexey Ozhgikhin. The advantage in the score was the result of the hosts’ activity – they went forward from the first minutes and added work to Magnitogorsk goalkeeper Ilya Nabokov.

In the second period of the game, Metallurg began to add pressure and apply pressure. Closer to the equator of the period, Lada remained in the minority on the site. The guests got a good chance to level the score and took advantage of the gift from their opponents. Luke Johnson converted the power play. And in the 34th minute the Magnitogorsk team took the lead. Nikita Grebenkin turned out to be the quickest on someone else’s dime – 1:2.

The owners of the site were not happy with this arrangement. A few minutes later, they responded to Grebenkin’s goal with two quick goals: first, Altybarmakyan equalized the numbers, and Troy Josephs made it 3:2 on the scoreboard.

In the third period, the teams exchanged attacks and dangerous chances at the goal. And yet, Metallurg managed to bring their attacks to fruition: in the 54th minute Denis Zernov equalized the score. However, the ending for the guests was dramatic. In the last minute of the match, the Magnitogorsk defender made a mistake with a pass in his own zone, as a result the puck ended up on the puck, where it was successfully ambushed by Lada player Scott Kosmachuk – 4:3.

The result is a disappointing defeat in a match that Metallurg could easily have won. On a positive note, we note that Magnitogorsk did not allow the opponent to excel in unequal lineups.

Metallurg will play its next game on October 31 at home against Barys.
