Metallurg lost to Spartak in the third match of the second round of the playoffs

The series between Metallurg and Spartak moved to Moscow, where the third game between the teams took place.

The teams approached this meeting in different positions. “Spartak” was losing the series 0:2 and a third defeat could make the situation critical for the “red-whites”. The Moscow team needed to score, because in the two previous meetings they failed to hit the Magnitogorsk goal.

During the first period, the owners came out more infected. As a result, the Metallurg goalkeeper’s dry streak lasted about 125 minutes (including previous matches). Five minutes after the start of the match, Spartak finally beat the Magnitogorsk goalkeeper. The first goal for the Muscovites in this series was scored by Maxim Tsyplakov. Let us note that before this, Metallurg had a killer chance at the Spartak goal, but failed to complete it. The famous phrase: “if you don’t score, they score on you” becomes more relevant than ever in the playoffs. At the end of the period, Ivan Morozov increased the lead to 2:0.

But the Magnitogorsk team wasn’t going to just give up the game. The assault on the goal began from the first minutes of the second period, and after 15 seconds Denis Zernov pulled one goal back. The score became 2:2 at the beginning of the third period. Makar Khabarov brought intrigue back into the match. However, this was not the last goal; until the end of the period, only the “red-whites” scored. Nikolai Goldobin scored a double and Pavel Poryadin scored another.

The result was a 2:5 defeat, which allowed Spartak to make the series score 2:1. The second game in Moscow will take place on March 24.
