Metallurg lost the battle for leadership in the conference

Metallurg Magnitogorsk lost to Sibir with a final score of 2:4.

The match in Novosibirsk ended the long away tour of the Magnitogorsk team. There were a minimum of changes in the line-up: Mikhail Fisenko dropped out of the application, Alexander Burmistrov took his place.

The first period turned out to be super productive. The teams scored four goals in 2 minutes. The first one didn’t have to wait long. The numbers on the scoreboard changed just 20 seconds after the starting siren. Alexander Sharov’s goal put the hosts ahead.

It took Metallurg about eight minutes to respond. The Siberians defended well, and Magnitka could not recover after a quick puck. The score was 1:1 after a throw by Nikolai Goldobin after the transfer of Denis Zernov. But a minute later, “Siberia” again took the lead through the efforts of Ilya Morozov.

The team of Ilya Vorobyov had to win back, but on 18 minutes Anatoly Nikontsev was sent off. Playing in the minority, Egor Korobkin was able to take the puck away and start a counterattack, which was joined by Alexander Burmistrov. It was he who became the author of the goal. By the way, this was Burmistrov’s first goal for Magnitogorsk.

The turning point came in the second period. In the 31st minute, due to a mistake by Metallurg’s players in the attacking zone, Sibir got an opportunity for their counterattack. Now Novosibirsk ran to the gates of Pasquale, two against one. Vladimir Butuzov made a pass to Sharov, towards whom the goalkeeper of Magnitogorsk moved, but Sharov did not throw and returned the puck to Vladimir Butuzov. Thus, the goalkeeper was won back and Butuzov was already throwing into an empty net – 3:2.

It is interesting that in the second period the young striker Roman Kantserov was able to carry out full-fledged shifts.

Metallurg needed to win back again, but the players failed to convert their chances. At the end of the match, the coaching staff went for broke and changed the goalkeeper to the sixth field. However, in the “6 on 5” arrangement, Magnitka got the fourth puck into her own net.

The result is 4:2 in favor of Sibir. Note that after the victory, the Novosibirsk team led the Eastern Conference. Magnitka also completed the away series. On January 23, Metallurg will play at home.
