Metallurg lost heavily in Tolyatti on the club’s birthday

On December 26, Metallurg played away against Lada and suffered a 1:5 defeat. The only goal of Magnitogorsk was scored by Nikita Mikhailis.

On December 26, Metallurg turned 68 years old. Let us remind you that the date of the first official match is considered the club’s birthday. “Magnitka” held it on December 26, 1955 in Magnitogorsk against a team from Voronezh. Then the hosts won 7:3. This birthday was not entirely successful.

It should be noted that on the day of the game it became known about the exchange of players between Metallurg and Traktor. Defender Grigory Dronov goes to Chelyabinsk, and goalkeeper Nikita Podskrebalin goes to Magnitogorsk instead. It is still difficult to say who benefited from this exchange. Dronov will strengthen the defense of the “black and whites”, and Podskrebalin will have to compete for the position of the main goalkeeper with the other goalkeepers.

The scoring in the match was opened in the eighth minute of the match, when Metallurg was playing in the minority. Sergei Shumakov realized the advantage for his team. After 3:0, Alexander Sudnitsyn appeared in the Metallurg goal instead of Ilya Nabokov, however, the hosts unsealed him in the opening of the second period. Ivan Romanov made it 4:0 for his team, taking advantage of the Magnitogorsk team losing the puck in their own zone.

However, the guests still managed to deprive the Lada goalkeeper of a potential cracker. Nikita Mikhailis’ goal slightly sweetened the bitterness of defeat. Unfortunately, this was the only goal scored by the Magnitogorsk team. The hockey players were unable to implement the deletions of their opponents. And in the third period, Troy Josephs set the final score – 5:1.

The result was a heavy defeat 5:1, which was largely due to the Metallurg players’ own mistakes. The next game will take place on December 28 in Kazan, where Magnitogorsk will play against Ak Bars.
