Metallurg defeated Kunlun Red Star in an away match

The day before, on November 30, Magnitogorsk hockey players played in Mytishchi against the Chinese team. The match turned out to be quite productive – Magnitka loaded six goals into the opponent’s goal.

After a difficult but victorious game in Ufa, there were adjustments in the Metallurg squad. In the match against Kunlun, Eddie Pasquale lost his place at the gate to Vasily Koshechkin. Also in the application were defenders Artyom Zemchenok and Valery Orekhov, Nikolai Goldobin and Arkhip Nekolenko joined the ranks of the forwards. Accordingly, defender Yaroslav Khabarov and forwards Denis Zernov and Maxim Karpov did not take part in the game.

The first period was marked by only one goal. Magnitka started the meeting quite actively, controlled the puck and attacked a lot. But the Kunlun players opened the scoring six minutes after the starting face-off. Tyler Vaughn sent the puck into the Magnitogorsk goal area.

The goal seemed to add strength and confidence to the Chinese team. Vasily Koshechkin increasingly had to enter the game, but the goalkeeper of Magnitogorsk no longer allowed himself to be outplayed. At the end of the period, the hosts of the site also earned a removal, but only a few seconds remained before the siren, so the remainder of the majority was transferred to the beginning of the second segment.

The wards of Ilya Vorobyov failed to realize the numerical advantage. The hosts successfully defended, but still conceded a goal, the Kunlun player, who had just been sent off, returned to the court. Mikhail Fisenko shot on target, the puck rebounded, but Egor Korobkin was the first to finish. Magnitogorsk evened the score – 1:1.

At the 33rd minute, the “dragons” again earned a removal. Magnitka played for some time on a delayed penalty with a numerical advantage. The pressure on the goal was crowned with success: Josh Curry put Metallurg ahead – 2:1.

The remaining time was scored only by Magnitogorsk. First, young striker Danila Yurov punished Kunlun’s outfield players for a mistake in his own zone, intercepting the opponents’ pass. The score became 3:1.

The difference of three goals – 4:1 – was made by Nikita Korostelev, scoring a goal when the guests played in the “five by three” format.

5:1 on the scoreboard was after the throw of Alexei Maklyukov from the blue line. Note that after that, both coaching staffs changed goalkeepers. The “dragons” instead of Alexei Murygin went Sun Zehao. And Magnitogorsk’s mentors gave the young goalkeeper, a graduate of the Magnitogorsk hockey school, Ilya Nabokov, the opportunity to play. For him, this albeit short game period was his debut in the KHL.

Point in the match was put by Vladislav Eremenko, whose goal set the final score – 6:1.

Magnitka won and took two points into the piggy bank. Thus, the team still remains in second place in the Eastern Conference. Only one point separates her from the leader. This was the end of the away streak. Metallurg will play their next match at their home arena in Magnitogorsk against CSKA Moscow on December 2.
