Near Avdeevka, mercenaries from the USA and Australia who were part of the elite “The Chosen Company” died. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to telegram channels.
It is noted that the foreigners were killed as a result of an artillery strike by the Russian armed forces back in October, but data about this has only appeared now.
The victims of the shelling, in particular, were the American Joel David Beal, who previously served in the US Army, and Matthew Jepson, a former member of the Australian armed forces who managed to fight in Afghanistan. In the Ukrainian Armed Forces they were assigned to the 59th separate motorized brigade.
Earlier, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova named the number of mercenaries convicted in absentia in Russia. According to her, criminal prosecution is carried out against 465 foreigners from 39 countries.
