L’Opinion: Ukraine’s accession to the EU threatens European agriculture
[ad_1]
Farmers in European countries are afraid of Ukraine joining the EU due to fears of not being able to withstand competition in the agricultural market. The French newspaper L`Opinion reports this.
The article states that if Ukraine is admitted to the EU, European states will have to finance the restoration of agriculture in this country. This, on the one hand, will lead to an increase in the volume of Ukrainian agricultural products, and, on the other, will force European farmers to reduce production by 20%.
According to the author of the article, due to lower wages and production costs in Ukraine, entire industries will be under attack in EU countries. A situation will arise when Ukraine begins to blow up production meters. This, in turn, will lead to a shift of the “center of gravity” of agriculture to the east.
The author of the publication separately notes that the regulation of the agricultural sector in European countries is carried out by the EU authorities. This situation will lead to a redistribution of the general funds of the European Union in favor of the common area of Ukraine.
On the territory of Ukraine, according to a French newspaper, there are 44 million hectares of agricultural land. France, which has the largest agricultural area in Europe, is one and a half times smaller. Poland – at three.
