The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) announced a record increase in prize money in men’s tennis. The combined prize pool of the ATP tournaments and the lower Challenger tournaments that the organization also hosts next season will be $217.9 million, a never-before-seen event.
Compared to 2022, it will increase immediately by 17%, or by $37.5 million, which is also a record. At the same time, the prize money at the ATP tournaments will amount to $175 million – $18.6 million, or 12%, more than this season.
As for the Challenger category tournaments, the unprecedented growth of their prize pool – up to $21.1 million, which is $9 million, or 75% more than now – is explained by the desire of the ATP management to increase financial support for mid-level players, as the chairman of the organization the Italian Andrea Gaudenzi spoke repeatedly.
A special incentive fund for players in the top thirty of the world ranking will also grow fundamentally, which will increase by 9.8 million, or 85%, and amount to $21.3 million.
